The Kentucky Opioid Assistance and Resource Hotline, a part of the Kentucky Poison Control Center supported by state and federal funds, is available 24 hours a day / 7 days. Healthcare providers and first responders, patients and concerned residents in KY can speak directly with a trained medical professionals at the Kentucky Poison Control Center to learn about safe drug disposal, naloxone, withdrawal and medications for treatment of opioid use disorder, as well as how to manage potential fentanyl exposures. http://kypoisoncontrol.com/opioid

Operation UNITE provides a toll-free Treatment Referral Line for anyone seeking assistance with a substance use disorder. This line is available 7 AM to 10 PM EDT Monday through Friday and 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM EDT Saturday and Sunday. Individuals seeking treatment for themselves or others – as well as family members who have questions or are in need of support – can call the referral line to learn about available treatment programs in the region and the appropriate steps they must take in order to enter a program that will meet their needs. All calls are kept confidential.

Meet Alex Elswick, founder of Voices of Hope and a patient and family representative on the KY SOS Advisory Committee
Alex Elswick is a tireless advocate for people with substance use disorders. He earned a B.A. from Centre College, an M.S. from the University of Kentucky and is currently finishing a PhD at the University of Kentucky. Elswick’s knowledge and experience with addiction is multifaceted. His professional experience, non-profit work and research agenda all focus on long term recovery. But most importantly, Elswick is himself a person in long-term recovery from the chronic disease of addiction.

The Kentucky Department for Public Health Harm Reduction Program is excited to announce the launch of Find Naloxone Now KY, a statewide naloxone access portal and locator map that connects Kentuckians to 136 locations where naloxone is available locally and free of charge.
These include Community-Based Organizations, Local Health Departments, Recovery Community Centers, and Regional Prevention Centers. An additional layer allows website users to view the more than 1,000 community pharmacies where naloxone is available for purchase, by using Medicaid benefits or the naloxone insurance co-pay program. The new website also helps connect agencies to grant funded sources of naloxone. Now, agencies wishing to distribute naloxone in their communities can simply click the “Ordering for an Agency?” button, answer a few questions, and fill out the relevant request form.
